Good Uses for Ceramic Knives

February 17th, 2012

You can use a ceramic knife for quite a few things in the kitchen that you would use other steel knives for. One of the major advantages of using a knife made from ceramic of course is that you might never have to sharpen it. And even if you do need to sharpen it you will probably be able to just send it back to the company who made it and have them sharpen it. That is because they need to be professionally sharpened using heavy duty equipment that is specialized for sharpening ceramic knives.

These knives are really good for cutting soft things such as vegatbles and fruits. Avocodos are great for these knives because the ceramic, unlike steel, does not interact with the fruits acids and turn it brown. I personally like using ceramic knives to cut carrots, onions, potatoes, and also for paring and peeling things like beets.
